“Breaking and Entering Vs. Home Invasions.” By Frank Hernandez. U.S.M.C. Veteran
As a security expert for SMART TECH SECURITY Home Security it is my responsibility to educate homeowners on the risks and differences between the crimes of Breaking Entering and Home Invasions.
BREAKING AND ENTERING:
The criminal act of entering a residence or other enclosed property through the slightest amount of force (even pushing open a door), without authorization. If there is intent to commit a crime, this is burglary.
When a home is broken and entered into, it usually is not occupied.
Burglaries are a crime of opportunity, these offenders often do not want anyone to be home when they enter and take the route of least resistance.
HOME INVASION:
A home invasion is an illegal and usually forceful entry to an occupied, private dwelling with intent to commit a violent crime against the occupants, such as robbery, assault, rape, murder, or kidnapping.
Home invaders are offenders of the worst kind. They either have full knowledge that the home is being occupied or have no concern of someone being inside because they are often armed and their intentions are much worse then just collecting possessions.
Over the years I have encountered both Breaking and Entering and Home Invasion victims. One common trend among the homeowners is the feeling of being violated and their sense of security and peace of mind being taken from them. This is why I take the responsibility of assisting our clients in either keeping their sense of security and peace of mind or helping them get it back by adding an SMART TECH SECURITY home security system to their homes and proving to them that it is possible to be secure in an insecure world.
Though both Breaking and Entering and Home Invasions are very scary, they are real threats that we as SMART TECH SECURITY home security representatives work hard to help homeowners deter and at last resort detect.
